From Humble Beginnings
The inaugural Liquid Johnny's Golf Outing benefiting Children's Wisconsin was held on Sept. 7, 2024, at Western Lakes Golf Club in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, more than two years prior to the official founding of Frank & Leo's 22-Week Warrior Foundation.
What started out as a simple desire by founding President Stephanie Gonzales to donate — to certain complex care programs her children were admitted to at Children's Wisconsin — turned into an entire day dedicated to fundraising.
Gonzales spent months planning an 18-hole scramble golf tournament, which would include a silent auction, food, drinks and camaraderie for a cause.
With just a handful of volunteers to help out, the group held a successful event that 60 golfers take part, with dozens of participants making contributions at the first golf outing's after party.
All told, the event raised nearly $5,600, plus an inspiration to do it all over again next year.
